The oldest in my crowd will become 4 years shortly, and her daily name is Rene.
Rene has not been shown as much as I should want, but I hope to be more active in that respect in 2009. But showing is definately not what Rene prefers. Quite often she thinks shows are a complete waste of time and terribly boring - and shows it. Other times it's quite ok, but being home deciding as a leader is far more to her preference. She is very good at that, and she does it in such an elegant and intelligent way that the others just do without second thoughts.
I bought Rene with breeding in mind, that she would become my new foundation bitch in my re-start of the breeding programme. That was not to be as it turned out she has HD on one hip and put a stop to those plans. But even if she is lost as a brood, she will stay here because of her lovely qualities in other respects. She is a personality plus, determined, mild, easygoing, secure, happy and a very loving leader. These are qualities that to me means more than anything else. So if it suits the lady, she'll be around at shows a bit more in 2009.
I picked up Rene in England in 2005, and at an age of 16 weeks. Puppies at that age are often NOT very impressive, and Rene was no exeption. There is a reason why the English call this "the ugly age". A coal black happy girl came running towards me, all long legged, being just arms and legs and wildly wagging her tail (she still does) and jumped right into my lap. Since day one in Wolverhampton and for the next 14 days I stayed there, she charmed everyone that met her, and walked happily around in the world. Travelling by plane did not affect her at all, and she has tackled every change in life the very same way.
I do look forward to the future with Rene, although she won't have puppies. She is something special to me, and is a girl that hardly can ever be replaced. I want to say a huge thank you to Rene, Jacky and Rob for letting me have this seventh wonder, and thank you for your true friendship over years.
Rene is not the most eager show girl you could think of, but she has had a couple of outings this year qualigfying for the Norwegian Collie Club's Red Price. She has coped pretty well with 2 eager males in the house and taught them quite easily how to respect an Enlish Lady. To put it short, they had to be quick learners. Hope to show this darling of mine some more in 2010.
